Zimbabwean journalists drawn from various media houses including the state controlled media have committed to working with the Election Resource Centre (ERC), to ensure accurate reporting on electoral processes grounded on the electoral cycle. The commitment was made during a training workshop aimed at strengthening media coverage and participation of journalists in elections and governance issues which was facilitated by the ERC. This followed a candid admission that previously, media houses lacked the requisite knowledge to report accurately and authoritatively, particularly on laws that guide the conduct of elections in Zimbabwe and on technical issues such as the introduction of Information, Communication and Technology in Zimbabwe’s electoral processes. It was resolved that there is need to partner with the ERC to ensure all election stakeholders are provided with timeous and adequate information that enables them to actively and effectively participate from an informed position.
