A local election and democracy Civil Society Organisation seeks to employ a Programmes Coordinator based in Harare.

Purpose of the job
The designate is responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of all programs and campaigns in line with the organisation’s 5 year strategic plan, while maintaining strong programme links from community to national and international levels. This position will provide oversight of the organisation’s programs’ key strategic objectives and key change promises, ensuring interventions through effective management of partnerships and projects within the standards and guidelines set by engaged and/or prospective funding partners.
Key strategic performance objectives
To provide oversight on programme design, planning and coordination by ensuring that the program portfolio is effectively coordinated to achieve organizational vision, mission and objectives. To lead and provide oversight on program implementation, review, monitoring, evaluation and reporting through supervision of program staff to ensure program standards, quality and targets are realized; To provide direction and support to programme staff and partners, in terms of capacity building/training, reporting, planning and budgeting; To provide support in developing and maintaining networks with all stakeholders through identifying and recommending strategic areas of collaborations. Other functions include participation in recruitment, selection and integration of program staff in line with the relevant strategic objectives and/or key change promises, supervision and assessment of performance of subordinates and takes responsibility in career development of subordinates with the support of the Human Resources Unit.

Required qualifications & experience
A Master’s Degree in Social Sciences/Development or relevant area; 5 years’ experience in project coordination and management, 3 of which must have been at a senior and strategic level; have proven experience (at least 5 years) of managing multi donor projects funded by the EU and USAID. At least 3 years election programming experience is required.
Other skills and competences
Ability to write concise and accurate reports to agreed deadlines and strong numerical skills to monitor budgets; Proven ability of project planning & budgeting, implementation and management especially with partners; Excellent communication skills in English and local languages, and sound analytical skills; Proficiency in the use of standard computer software, especially Microsoft Office package; Ability and preparedness to travel and work in difficult conditions; A motivated self-starter with initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm; A clean class 4 drivers’ licence is a must.
